Do you have a boat?
You will need insurance for it if you take it on the road. You
may have third party cover while towing it (Check it out) but you
really should have boat insurance that covers repair and replacement
if your trailer breaks or if you reverse into something.
Most boat accidents happen while towing or launching a
boat.
What
happens if you bang into a two hundred thousand euro cruiser or yacht?
You’ll be glad you bought insurance when you get the bill for
that little incident.
And if the worst happens
and someone falls from your boat and is injured or lost?
This is where you will need cover for a couple of million
euros/pounds. It’s not
as expensive as you might think and well worth having it for the peace
of mind it brings.
Most Irish Insurance companies that offer car insurance will also
offer boat insurance but it is worth seeking out a specialist insurer
if you require good boat cover.
Find out what you are
covered for. If you get stuck on a rock in a lake and it costs a
few thousand to retrieve the baot and repair it, are you
covered? If someone bangs into your baot and does nat have
insurance, are you covered under your own policy?
